「海は新しい」
この作品「海は新しい」を筆に起こしたとき、
私の心にあったのは、ただ移ろいゆく水面だけではありませんでした。
「海は」と書く瞬間、それは悠久の時を重ねてきた、見慣れた、
あるいは記憶の彼方にある古典的な海の姿をなぞるようでした。
そこには、遥か昔から変わらぬ静けさや、あるいは激しい嵐を繰り返してきた、
歴史そのものが宿っています。しかし、その後に続く「新しい」という一文字には、
突如として差し込む光のような、あるいは深海の底から湧き上がる源泉のような、
鮮烈な筆線を刻みました。それは、あらゆる既成概念を打ち破り、未知の輝きを放つ、
生命の躍動を表現したものです。
私たちは今、「座標のない、私たちの漂流する海」の中にいます。
かつての羅針盤は霞み、確かな陸地は見えません。
しかし、この果てなく広がる「永遠の水面」をじっと見つめる時、
私たちはそこに、迷いながらも自らの「魂」を見出すことができるはずです。
そして、その魂の奥底から生まれる、決して揺らぐことのない一点の「光」。
それは、深い海の暗闇の中で静かに育まれ、やがて世界を照らす真の美しさへと
昇華する輝きに似ています。この光こそが、私たち自身の、そして未来を切り拓く、
新しい座標となるでしょう。
TASAKIのロンドン店というこの場所で、この書が、訪れる方々の心に、
時代を超えて輝き続ける「美」と、未知なる「創造」への静かな問いかけとなれば幸いです。
Artwork Description: “The Sea is New (海は新しい)”
When I put brush to paper for this piece, “The Sea is New,” my mind dwelled not merely on the fleeting surface of the water.
In inscribing “The Sea is,” I traced a timeless, perhaps even ancient, vision of the ocean, reminiscent of classical artistry. It holds an unchanging serenity, or perhaps the echoes of countless storms, embodying history itself. Yet, with the subsequent character, “is New,” I forged a vibrant stroke, like light piercing through the depths, or a spring gushing forth from the ocean floor. This expresses a surge of life that shatters all preconceived notions, radiating an unknown brilliance.
We find ourselves now adrift in “The boundless sea where we float without coordinates.” Old compasses are blurred, and no sure land is in sight. However, as we gaze intently upon this “eternal surface,” we can discern within it our own “soul,” even amidst our wanderings.
And from the very depths of that soul emerges an unwavering “light”―a radiance that silently nurtures in the ocean’s darkness, eventually blossoming into a true beauty that illuminates the world. This light, much like the masterpieces meticulously crafted from the sea’s embrace, will become our own, and the very new coordinates that carve out our future.
It is my hope that in this space, at the TASAKI London, this calligraphy will serve as a quiet contemplation for all who visit―a reflection on “beauty” that shines eternally across time, and on “creation” that ventures into the unknown.
